To add visual interest, allow for an image or color to be added to individual sections in the About pages.

Lesia Pietri: Hm. So I can just set a background inside one of the sections on the page? I hadn't tried that. I will. Thank you.

Amy LeForge: Thank you Amy for taking the time to explain your needs. It's actually not possible to do this without HTML code in a content detail. But as you pointed out, it is possible to get this result by using HTML code and CSS directly in the paragraphs of your item without going through a complete HTML page.

Thank you for taking the time to follow all of this!

I know that there are other elements in there that are also not possible with GoodBarber, such as putting buttons inside an About page. I know it's possible to do that with an html page, but getting the styling correct on an element that way takes an inordinate amount of time. For now, I'd just love to be able to add color. So here is a new About page. If I could add text to one section and have a white background, and then in the following section add a different background color, I would then have the effect of adding the visual interest. All I see in the controls are the ability to change the text color, and the ability to add a "background" color to the text, which really is just highlighting it. That's not wildly effective and reminds me too much of the early MySpace years.

As you can see, there is a lot of text and quite frankly it's not visually compelling. If I could take some sections of text and put color behind them, it would break up the monotony and help retain the attention of visitors. In contrast, please look at this screenshot. It is the mobile version of a website because I cannot do any of this with an app. (But I'd like to!) There is again a good deal of text, but it is broken up into different sections by color. That draws the reader's eye and is more visually compelling.

Lesia Pietri: Okay, this will require more than one screenshot, but I will do my best. Exhibit A is a very long page my client asked for in his app.

Amy LeForge: Indeed it seems that I didn't understand your request but to be honest I still don't even after your comment :/ Maybe a screenshot of what you need would be better ;)

Lesia Pietri: Can you please read my response and consider marking this post as incomplete? I do not think my original request was clear enough, based on your reply.

Yes, thank you I have done that in many apps. What I am asking for is the ability to set a background color or image in individual sections inside an About page. Assuming a solid background in the app itself, I could make one text section green, then have something in white, and so on. Right now, an About page can only have white backgrounds in the text sections and if there is a lot of text I can only break it up by adding images. It would be helpful to be able to color-block sections of text so that I can make the reading more interesting for users when my clients have a lot to say.

Amy LeForge Hello, it is already possible, for a background color via the Settings panel of the section for a background image via the json edition by adding the effectBackgroundImage object in the concerned section. Do not hesitate to contact the GoodBarber team if you need help to set up this solution.
